New Branch

It grows taller and taller each day,

Papaya tree that grew from a seed the man spitted the other day.

Will it reach the height of that two-storey shophouse?

Within a small plot of soil that occasionally visited by birds and mouse.

It grows and bears fruits that fulfil the thirst of the man,

He ignores the flower planted by the authority on that tiny soil land.

Scarcity of nutrition wasn’t enough to grow both plants,

Ends up, the flower plant withers and gets thrown away by his hand.

A new branch grows from the side of the main trunk of the tree,

It shows signs of windborne pollened baby papaya of three.

The greedy man wants more fruits,

Not knowing new branch would siphon the nutrients to grow its own fruits.

No fertilizer, no water, he expects the plant to grow more fruits for free,

Just like him living his life carefree.

Ends up, the fruits from both the main trunk and the new branch are smaller in size,

He looks at those small papayas that he can’t even lay a bite,

He walks away as if the tree never came into his sight.

What would its fate be?

  –  Will it bloom with more new branches and leaves?

  –  Or will it wither not long after?

It’s a secret no one knows…

The reality of the Before and After…

Before
After... Two months later, there're 6 plants in this small plot of soil ground.
